In 50 years
has earned itself the unconditioned approval of the shipping public.
|
In the early fifties, when the reconstruction
process of Italy after World War Two had already begun and when you could already
see the signs of it all over the country, Leghorn still had not reached full operational
efficiency of her traditional structures.
The industry, heavily damaged or even destroyed by bombing, lay idle. The port had
been returned to our authorities and to the good will and the promotional capabilities
of local operators for free trading with considerable delay and was suffering badly
from lack of berths, mechanical handling means and organisation.

Porto di Livorno - 1951
|
In these conditions, a group of friends,
shipping people, industrialists and managers who were sensitive and attentive to
the needs of the revival of Leghorn, committed an act of faith and gave life to "Il
Messaggero Marittimo" as a mercantile news - bulletin for Central Italy.
Promoted by Cesare Fremura and Aldo Fremura with their usual diligence and the tenacity
which characterised all their actions, the initiative met with the immediate favour
of the better known Shipping Agents and major Forwarding Agents of the Leghorn of
those days.
